What is liturgical worship and what does it include?
- Worship that follows set pattern each time
- led by priest- formal prayers
- service includes music and hymns, and readings of bible
- eg celebration of Eucharist
What is non liturgical worship and what does it include?
- Spontaneous which doesn’t follow set pattern or structure
- For some denominations such as quakers, they will worship when they feel prompted by holy spirit
What is informal worship and what does it include?
- Type of non liturgical worship
- ‘spontaneous’ and ‘charismatic’ in nature
- often involves dancing/ clapping
- people sometimes pray as they feel led by God- ‘‘extemporary prayers’
What are informal prayers?
Prayer that us made up by individual using own words
Advantages of Liturgical worship
+organised
+everyone knows what they are doing
+brings people closer to God
Advantages and disadvantages of non-liturgical worship
+More personal
+flexible
+anyone can participate
+brings people closer to God
-may not be taken seriously
-could be disorganised as people unsure what they are doing
What is public worship
- Groups of people joined in prayer in a public place
what is private worship
- A small group or individual praying in a private room/area
Reasons for Christian Worship
- To thank God
- To show gratitude
- A cry for help
- For forgiveness
- To please God

What is a sacrament
A holy ritual which outwardly express an inner, spiritual experience
What is baptism?
- When a person is formally acknowledged as a child of God and their sins are forgiven
- water symbolises washing away of sins
