Q

what are the disadvantages of self selected volunteer sample ?

A

Majority of people are unlikely to respond

Biased sample - thise who respond may be a certain type of person e.g they may be more conforming to have replied and so might show more demand characteristics

Q

What are the advantages of stratified samples ?

A

The sample is proportionate to the population so it is representative

Q

What Is the disadvantage of random sampling ?

A

The group we end up with may be unrepresentative by chance .

eg if it was an experiment on memory the sample may be full of people with reallly good memory

16
Q

What are the advantages of a self selected volunteer sample ?

A

Sample selects itself so it is easy as the researcher can just wait for people to respond

17
Q

What is a weakness of time sampling ?

A

When behaviour is sampled it might be unrepresentative of the observation as a whole.
