A

Step one: the teacher labels the pupil
Step two: the teacher treats the pupil accordingly
Step three: the pupil internalises the expectation it becomes part of their self image

A

Archer - argues that the mc students have the same habitus as teachers and receive symbolic capital whereas wc only receive symbolic violence. Thus they need to form their own culture (nike identities)

A

Many working class students felt looked down upon by society so create their own symbolic capital through branded clothes.

This creates respect from peers not wearing branded clothes is ‘social suicide’
