What is Disability?
A physical or mental impairment which has an adverse effect on a person’s ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities
What is Discrimination?
Actions or behaviour that results from prejudice
What is Emergency Aid?
Help given to communities in a time of disaster or crisis, also known as short-term aid
What is Equality?
The state of being equal, especially in status, rights and opportunities
What is Exploitation?
Misuse of power or money to get others to do things for little or unfair reward
What is Freedom of Religion?
The right to believe or practise whatever religion one chooses
What is Freedom of Religious Expression?
The right to worship, preach and practise one’s faith and whatever way she chooses
What is Heterosexual?
To be sexually attracted to members of the opposite sex
What is Homosexual?
To be sexually attracted to members of the same sex
What are Human Rights?
The basic rights and freedoms to which all human beings should be entitled
What is Human Trafficking?
The illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labour or commercial sexual exploitation
What is Long Term Aid?
Assistance given to a poor country over a long period of time that has a lasting effect
What is Poverty?
Being without money, food or basic needs of life
What is Prejudice?
Unfairly judging someone before the facts are known; holding biased opinions about an individual or group
What is Social Justice?
Ensuring that society treats people fairly whether they are poor or wealthy and protects people’s human rights
