procedure for LE prep

A
  1. Add 5-10 glass beads to the tube of blood and mix on a mechanical rotator for 30 minutes
  2. Incubate tube of blood at 37C for 30 minutes
  3. Fill 3 to 4 Wintrobe tubes with the well mixed blood and centrifuge at 200g for 10 minutes
  4. Discard the plasma from the tubes. Remove the buffy coat and prepare 3 to 4 smears. Stain with Wright stain.
  5. Examine each smear for the presence of LE cells under OIO. Report results as positive or negative.
  6. The slides should be examined for at least 10 minute
