Closed systems

Transactional leaders

organizational leadership based on principles while motivating staff to address challenges and find new solutions

staff person in a prison/jail who accomplishes a mission by maintaining control and order in prison

based on the way prison leadership deals and communicates with staff

based on how staff members view and communicate with inmates
Dothard v. Rawlinson
ruled that a BFOQ against the female corrections officers was allowable because of the deplorable conditions of the Alabama prison + lack of sex offenders
Gunther v. Iowa
determined that inmate privacy was not a valid reason to refuse to hire a woman as correctional officer
