What are Hormone-based Contraceptive methods?
Synthetic hormones that usually consist of either progesterone, oestrogen or both
What are the advantages of Hormone based contraceptive methods?
Contraceptive implants can last up to three years
What are the disadvantages of Hormone-based methods?
Women must take the pill regularly if they don’t their bodys hormone can take over quickly which can result in an egg being released or an unexpected baby
What are Chemical contraceptive methods?
Spermicides which are a birth control that stops sperm from reaching an egg. It is placed in the vagina to prevent pregnancy
What are the advantages of chemical contraceptive methods?
They are readily available
What are the disadvantages of chemical contraceptive methods?
Not very effective at preventing pregnancy
What are the Barrier contraceptive methods?
Diaphragm: a form of birth control that is a shallow cup made of soft silicone, Condoms: thin pouches that cover the penis during sex and collect semen
What are the advantages of Barrier contraceptive methods?
No side effects and you don’t need medical advice, protection against STDs
What are the disadvantages of barrier methods?
Can get damaged and let semen through
