  4. Master Switch - Off
  5. Cabin Doors - Unlatch
  6. Turn Back to Airport or Pick off Airport Landing Site

Short Field Landing

A
  1. Abeam touchdown point - 1500 RPM, flaps 10* below 115mph
  2. Pitch for 85mph
  3. When touchdown is 45* off shoulder - turn base
  4. Flaps 25* and pitch for 74mph
  5. Turn final - flaps 40*, pitch for 65mph
  6. Reduce power so as to land on the selected point (must be at or beyond point within 100 ft.)
  7. At touchdown, apply max braking, full back pressure on yoke.
  8. Clear of runway - After landing

Soft Field Landing

A
  1. Abeam touchdown point - 1500 RPM, flaps 10* below 115mph
  2. Pitch for 85mph
  3. When touchdown is 45* off shoulder - turn base
  4. Flaps 25* and pitch for 74mph
  5. Turn final - flaps 40*, pitch for 65mph
  6. Approaching touchdown - begin flare, using power to minimize sink rate to touchdown gently as possible.
  7. Maintain full back pressure on yoke to keep weight off nose wheel.
  8. Use aerodynamic braking only
  9. Clear of runway - After landing

ENGINE POWER LOSS IN FLIGHT

  1. Trim - Best Glide 83 mph
  2. Fuel selector - switch tanks
  3. Electric Fuel pump - On
  4. Mixture - Rich
  5. Carburetor heat - On
  6. Engine gauges - Check for indication of power loss
  7. Primer - In and locked

If no fuel pressure is indicated, check tank selector position to be sure it is on a tank containing fuel.

When power is restored:
1. Carburetor heat - Off
2. Electric Fuel pump - Off
3. Mixture - Adjust

If power is not restored, prepare for power off landing:
1. Trim for 83 mph

POWER OFF LANDING

A
  1. Locate suitable field.
  2. Establish spiral pattern.
  3. 1,000 ft. above field at downwind position for normal landing approach.
  4. When field can easily be reached, slow to 65 mph for shortest landing.

Touchdowns should normally be made at lowest possible airspeed with full flaps.

When committed to landing:
1. Ignition - Off
2. Master switch - Off
3. Fuel selector - Off
4. Mixture - Idle cutoff
5. Seat belt and harness - Tight
6. Door - Unlatch
