I would adopt the principles of effective communication:
* Knowledge of the audience
* Knowledge of the purpose of the communication
* Adopt the appropriate method of communication – written, graphical and oral
* Good record-keeping
* Knowledge of the topic
* Anticipate objections
* Present a rounded picture
* Achieve credibility with your audience
* Communicate a little at a time
* Present information in several ways and use multiple communication techniques
* Clarity
* Brevity – communicate a little at a time
* Develop a practical, useful way to get feedback

How would you negotiate effectively?

A

Good negotiation skills include:
* An ability to set goals and limits (What are the upper limits? What is non-negotiable and what can be conceded?)
* Emotional control
* Excellent listening skills
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of when and how to close the negotiation
Two types of negotiation strategies:
* Collaborative / Principled Negotiation
* Competitive Negotiation

What action would you take if the contractor did not agree with one point of your summary email post meeting?

A

I would ask them to provide reasoning for their disagreement, I would endeavour to provide my own reasoning. If necessary I would discuss their feedback at the next meeting for clarification on the matter.
