Responsibilities of the OOW for the safe boarding of pilots

• The Pilot ladder is properly rigged and secured in place.
• The access point complies with the requirements of resolution A 29.
• A lifebuoy (with light) is rigged.
• A seaman with a heaving line is standing by.
• The area is adequately lit and clear of hazards.
• The OOW is in direct communication with the bridge.
• Suitable PPE is available, if required.
• The pilot is safely escorted to the bridge.
