importance of collective id, more so than any other class
class id is less important, look for new ways to display this other than work (leisure)
mc see themelves as culturally superior , choose thinsg to draw distinction from mc to wc
“social closure” , exclusive id

dangerous to generalise: wc roots still important in trade unions, etc.
