Why has the research been criticised ?
A
It has been criticised for lacking ecological validity as it is an artificial way of assessing attachment as they are lab based with mother and stranger acting to a script
Brofen brenner found that infants attachment behaviour is much stronger when at home

what had later research suggested?
A
Later research suggests that there is a 4th attachment type :type d insecure-disorganised
- it is displayed by a small number of children, whose behaviour was a confusing mixture of approach and avoidance behaviours
