Q

What is Over moulding?

A

Moulding a second polymer over specific parts of a product.
- TPE is often used
- Overmoulding provides read of grip or texture
- Overmouldings can highlight different colours for different components parts on product.

Q

What are the two methods of overmoulding?

A

Two Injections Moulding moulds :
- One mould for the product and another for the grip area
- product is injection moulded, then placed into a second mould.
Twin shot INjection moulding
- very fast continuous cycle process
- mould has two cavities that can be rotated so they line up with twin injector points
- main product is created in first mould cavity
- Mould will open slightly and rotate
mould closes and a second injection is applied to overmould.
