What is the first stage ?
A
Add 50ml3 of cooper (III) chloride solution to a beaker
Then place a plastic Petri dish over the beaker with two holes

What is the second stage ?
A
Insert graphite rods into the holes ( these are the electrodes)
They are un reactive and must not touch as that will produce a short circuit

What is the third stage ?
A
Connect the rods to a low voltage power supply with crocodile clips
We switch it on with 4.0 V

What is the rule with the cathode ?
A
If the metal is less reactive than hydrogen it is discharged
