A

What is the mesocycle?

A

Usually between 4 to 12 weeks of specific training. Here the athlete can work on their necessary components of fitness such as cardiovascular fitness for a boxer.

What is the microcycle?

A

Planning for a week, a few days or just one training session. This is repeated throughout the duration of the mesocycle.

What is tapering?

A

A reduction in the volume and/or intensity of training leading up to the competition. This is done to maintain fitness and make sure the player is fresh and not injured.
