Beta blockers with nitrates!

Why should a beta blocker not be stopped abruptly?
May cause rebound angina, MI, and hypertension. Should taper off over 2-3 weeks
How might you treat a patient with variant angina caused by spontaneous coronary spasm, either at work or at rest?
Nitrate or CCB (nifedipine)
