the lightness or darkness of a color
what is the difference between a tint and a shade?
a tint is made when white is added to a color and a shade is made when black is added to a color

the brightness or dullness of a color

a tool that shows how colors are related to eachother

they are made by mixing equal amounts of two primary colors

uses different values of the same hue

using colors adjacent on the color wheel
ex: blue and green

two or more colors opposite eachother on the color wheel
ex: yellow and purple

warm colors are red, yellow, orange
cool colors are blue, green, violet
what colors are considered receding and what colors are considered advancing?
advancing: red, orange, yellow
