Mill File
All purpose single cut file used especially for finish filing.
Flat file
Used to file flat surfaces as well as for other operations that require a fast cutting file.
Knife File
Used for finishing the sharp corners of grooves and slots where other files would not fit.
Three Square File
Also know as “ three cornered file “ has 60 degree angles and is used for filing internal angles clearing out corners and various other operations.
Bench Stakes
Nothing more than small anvils used to rivet seam form or bend sheet metal objects which cannot be done by machines.
What are the three parts of a Stake?
The shank, head, and the horn
Describe the shank of a stake
Has a tapered point, which fits the holes of a bench plate.
What is the Hand Dolly?
It is a type of stake that is not placed on the bench plate but instead used in the metal workers hand.they come in various sizes and are used for general purposes such as bucking rivets and double seaming on jobs away from the shop where stakes are not available.
What are the three types of stakeholders?
Bench plate, revolving bench plate, and universal stake holder.
What is the bench plate ?
Most common of the stakeholders the bench plate is simply a large piece of cast iron which is fastened to a bench with bolts. It has tapered holes to accept the various stakes.
What is the Revolving bench plate
Consists of a revolving plate with tapered holes to support the stakes. Can be placed in any desired position by being clamped to a bench.
What is a universal stakeholder
This type of a stakeholder comes with a set of stakes that can be substituted for one another by turning a swivel handle and replacing the steak. Can be clamped to any desire position on a bench.
Bench grinder
Indispensable for sharpening work tools. Very hazardous– Never grind on the side of the wheel. Workrest should never be more than 1/8 of an inch from the grinding wheel. Always wear eye protection

Commonly known as drillbits, twist rules are used to drill holes in sheet metal another construction materials. They can be made of carbon steel or high-speed alloy steel
Portable bandsaw
This type of saw is used to cut all kinds of metal objects including pipe angle iron and square stock an important thing to know about the portable bandsaw is when you’re going to make the cut make sure the item is touching both the blade and the work rest
Portable hand shears
Power hand shears are designed to cut straight and irregular curved lines they can be used to make hairline accurate cuts without burrs and without distorting the metal shears are rated according to the gauge of the metal they will cut
Nibblers
Nibblers work as a fast acting punch the nibbles a small hole out of the metal with every stroke its main advantage is that it can cut very heavy metal accurately without distorting it since both sides remain perfect flat during cutting
