2 METHODS OF PRESENTING DATA
TABULAR METHOD AND GRAPHICAL METHOD
Frequency Distribution Table is what type of data and what type of presentation
(continuous data) and a tabular presentation
Cross Tabulation Table is what type of data and what type of presentation
Categorical data and a tabular presentation
chart for depicting qualitative information
can only convey a general idea of the data values
data must represent parts of a whole (e.g., percent market share)
Pie Charts
most common graphic form to present a qualitative variable
graphically describes a frequency table using a series of uniformly wide rectangles (bars)
blank the height of each bar is the class frequency
blank horizontal display of data; useful when the axis labels are long or if there are many categories
Column Chart & Bar Chart
column chart
(bar chart)
the bar height is the sum of several subtotals
data series are stacked one on top of the other in vertical columns
can be effective for any number of groups but work best when you have only a few
Stacked Column Chart
method for graphically demonstrating the locality, spread and skewness groups of numerical data through their quartiles
can detect outlier
Boxplot (a.k.a Box-and-whisker plot)
relationships between two numerical variables
Scatter plot (a.k.a scatter diagram)
display a time series, to spot trends, or to compare time periods
can be used to display several variables at once
Line Chart
an advantage of the stem-and-leaf display over a frequency distribution is that ?
we do not lose the identity of each observation
