Q

What would happen if the temperature is increased in a system?

A

LCP would predict that the reaction would proceed to partially oppose the temperature increase, so the endothermic reaction will be favoured. As more no2 is made, this must be the direction that is favoured. Therefore, the direction that makes no2 is the endothermic direction.

Q

What would happen if the pressure is increased in a system?

A

LCP predicts that the equilibrium will shift to partially oppose the increase in pressure (will favour side with less particles). Less particles on the product side –> forward reaction will be favoured to reduce number of particles.

Q

What would happen if solution is diluted?

A

All concentrations decrease immediately. LCP predicts that the reaction would proceed to make more particles.
