Token Economy Programme (TEP)

A
  • Treatment based on operant conditioning
  • Involve reward / punishment by award / deduct tokens
  • Tokens (vouchers/ plastic chips): secondary reinforcer to ‘cash in’ for primary reinforcer (gifts, luxuries, privileges)
  • Used in schools (house points) but also successful in prisons/ workplaces
  • Clinical setting help overcome addictions / resist antisocial behaviour
