What is Globalization? Be able to provide examples.
how countries are interconnected economically, politically, culturally, & technologically.
Ex: Mcdonald’s has thousands of restaurants across the world.
Explain how something like medicine is impacted by globalization.
The active pharmaceutical ingredients in medicine are produced in China, the binders and fillers in medication are supplied by India, then it is packaged by Germany, then the US wholesale distributors purchase the drugs from manufacturers and send them to pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, and elsewhere, the final stop for medication is your medicine cabinet.
How does globalization affect “What’s for Brunch?”
Globalization affects the nature of the food supply chain, thereby altering the quantity, type, cost, and desirability of foods available for consumption. The food we buy from the grocery store is often imported from other countries, for example, avocados from Mexico.
Understand the connection between globalization and human trafficking / slavery.
When demand is so high for products and there aren’t many workers, the companies take advantage of the workers by forcing them to work longer than their intended hours(against their will/ aka slavery). This affects the global economy positively though, since supply is less likely to run out, thus leading to more products being sold.
also, since some countries depend on other countries so much for their products, they’ll ignore the inhumane things that they’ve done fo their workers and in general(China), so that they can still be provided with their cheap products, which can be sold for more in their country(US).
Explain how Hollywood has been impacted by globalization.
Because western movies are so popular all around the world, the People who made the movies will get a lot of money, even if their movie flops in the US. And since there’s not a wide variety of movies that people can watch in china, for example, they’re going to be more eager to watch only those movies, causing them to profit even more.
