A

Prep the rubber cap with an alcohol pad in a circular motion, allow to dry.

How do you prep the puncture site (when doing blood cultures)?

A

Prep using CHLORHEXIDINE
Using aseptic technique, remove the applicator from its package.
Hold downward, gently squeeze the wings to release the solution.
Scrub with a back & forth motion 30 seconds on dry skin or 2 minutes on wet skin.
Do not wipe that site after cleansing.

Apply gloves.

Sterile gloves if you want to palpate site your puncturing, nonsterile if you will not palpate that site

Put it in the aerobic bottle. That one is examined first, then the blood is used in the anaerobic bottle.
