2.1 Introduction To cell Flashcards
Difine Prokaryotic cell
A Prokaryotic cell is a small cell without a nucleus e.g like bacteria
List and explain the three main regions of the prokaryotic cell
The cell wall, membrane, capsule : out side protection of the cell
The flagella : whip like structure that helps the cell move
Cytoplasmic region : this is the inside of the cell that contains the nucleoid, cytoplasm and ribosomes
Define Eukaryotic cells
Eukaryotic cells are bigger and more complex than prokaryotic cells and, they have a nucleus which contains the DNA
Define unicellular organisms
Unicellular organisms are organisms that consist of only one cell
Give examples of unicellular organisms
All bacteria
All protists
Some algae
Unicellular fungus
Example of bacteria
E.coll
example of protists
It is a very diverse of both multi and unicellular organisms (the big misfit )
Amoeba
example of algae
Chlorella
example of fungi
Yeast
Define multicellular organisms
They are organisms that consist of two or more cells
