What type of process is Diffusion?
A passive process - no energy is required.
What is diffusion?
The movement of substances from a high to low concentration, moving down the concentration gradient.
What is equllibrium?
The evenly spreading of molecules.
In what states can diffusion occur, and why?
Water & Gas - because the molecules are free to move.
What three things travel by diffusion in the body?
Oxygen, water and waste products.
Why do cells need a supply of oxygen?
For respiration and to release energy.
How is the movement of oxygen maintained?
There is a high concentration of oxygen in the air sacs by breathing and low concentration by the movement of oxygen in the bloodstream.
Which 2 factors affect diffusion?
The distance the moles have spread & the concentration.
