Tries to make people feel like they are better than others
Bandwagon
Tries to persuade by making people want do the same thing others do… It urges people to go along with what others are doing
Stereotype
Unfair images of a certain group
Testimonial
Tells you to bases your opinion on what someone else thinks- usually a celebrity
Name calling
Makes accusations but doesn’t give any facts to support the claim
Ethical appeal
Tries to gain moral support by linking the claim to a widely accepted value
Scare tactic
Makes people feel as if their safety, security or health is in danger
Appeals to pity
Persuades by tapping into people’s compassion for others
Appeals to vanity
Uses flattery to win people over
Rehetorical devices
Persuasive techniques writers and speakers use to enhance their arguments

The event or action that directly results in an another event
Effect
The outcome of an event or action
Counter argument
The argument made to address points that someone with an opposing view might raise
