10 C Section review Flashcards

1
Q

Contrast static electricity & current electricity (what is the difference?)

A

Static electricity is the quick discharge of excess electrons. Current is the continuous flow of charges.

2
Q

Compare the two models of how electrons flow through a conductor.

A

Electron diffusion theory says electrons move from area of high concentration to area of low concentration & current happens. Cease of a continuous supply of electrons. Another model is like a stream flowing downhill where electrons flow from a point of higher electrical potential energy to a point of lower electrical potential energy. Higher place is source, lower is sink.
