Integrins - predominant adhesion molecule that binds to molecules in the matrix, including collagen fibrils, elastic fibres and glycosaminoglycans such as chondroitin sulphate. Integrins also function to bind platelets to endothelial cells and platelets to platelets as part of coagulation.
