Origin: posterior surface of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Action: abducts arm
Deltoid
Origin: acromion process of spine of scapula and clavicle
Insertion: deltoid tuberosiry id humerus
Action: abducts arm extends or flexes humerus
Subscapularis
Origin: anterior surface of scapula
Insertion: lesser tubercle of humerus
Action: rotates arm medially
Infraspinatus
Origin: posterior surface of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Action: rotates arm laterally
Tres minor
Origin: lateral border of scapula
Insertion: greater tubercle of humerus
Action: rotates arm laterally
