  • tx: antibiotics
  • complications: risk of formation of abscesses, risk of ectopic pregnancy

  • s/s: irregular period, hyperandrogenism (acne, hirsutism-hair, male pattern hair loss), infertility, polycystic ovaries
  • tx: weight loss, oral contraceptives, insulin sensitizing agents

**can cause long term health risks: CVD, type II DM, HTN, lipid abnormalities, estrogen may increase risk of endometrial cancer

Prostatitis

  • definition: inflammation of the prostate, sometimes cased by infection (SRD or UTI)
  • s/s: pain and burring during urination, prostate tenderness, pus from the tip of the penis
  • tx: penicillin

**w/ BPH- the blockage of urine outflow places back pressure on the ureters, this back pressure, can extend to the kidneys
