what is sensitive information + example
Information that should not be generally available (1) · This information could cause harm if released (1) · Information that is protected against unwarranted disclosure (1)
E.G medical conditions / disability of victims of crime
Private information + example
Private relates to an individual and its should not be shared with anyone else without the data subject’s permission.
Public information
Released to the public and can therefore be seen by anyone. Public information is non sensitive.
Personal information:
Identifiable data about a specific individual.
Business information:
Any kind of data about a specific individual business. This information could be public or private
Confidential information:
Private data that is more restricted than sensitive information with access limited to only those who need to know
Classified information:
Highly sensitive information stored by an government institution, requiring the highest levels of restricted access. Access is usually restricted by law and only viewable by authorized individuals or groups.
Anonymised Information
Anonymization removes personally identifiable data from information so that an individual cannot be identified.
Partially anonymised + example
where some of the personal info has been removed and replaced by a symbol
e.g bank details could be listed as * - ** -***** 7427
Completely anoymised info
where all identifiable data is removed
