A

Describe nouns and sometimes pronouns.

Verbs.

A

Doing words.
Verbs can be:
- dynamic (relate to actions)
- stative (express a state of being and though processes).
They can be:
- active ‘john hit the ball’
- passive ‘the ball was it (by john)’.
Verbs which support the main verbs are:
- primary auxiliary verbs (these alter the tense, can, have, is)
- modal auxiliary verbs (9) ‘can, could, will, would, must, may, might, shall, should and ought’
- ‘do’ is a dummy auxiliary.

Adverbs.

A

Describes verbs and sometimes adjectives and other adverbs too. Usually end in ‘ly’.
