Draw the brachial plexus
What injury can excessive flexion of the neck cause?
On the other side, the upper cords;
Lateral cords - MC & median
A cervical rib can stretch the brachial plexus, what injury can this cause?
Same side middle & lower cords.
Median cord: Median & Ulnar
Posterior cord: Radia & Axillary
What injury can occur from a shoulder joint dislocation?
Axillary nerve
Results in decreased abduction & loss of sensation over part of upper arm.
What nerve can be damaged by humerus fracture & why?
What may result?
Radial nerve
Wraps round the humerus
Results in claw hand
What nerve most often suffers a compression injury & why?
What can result?
Median nerve
Due to narrowness of carpal tunnel
Results in loss of sensation in fingertips & pain
Which nerve of the lower limb is easily damaged?
Why?
What can result?
Common peroneal/ fibular nerve
Positioned superficialled, close to neck of fibula
Results in foot/ ankle drop
