Q

What statistic is being calculated for this test?

A

Hobt….
Hobt = [ 12/N(N+1)][E(Ri)^2/ni]-3(N+1)
** the summation part occurs for each group in the experiment!

Q

How are the scores ranked in this test?

A
  • you rank across all conditions together as if all in one condition!
  • no negative ranks
L> Ri= sum of ranks in that condition
L> do not use absolute values…. sign means something!

Q

In nonparametric tests such as this one…what is analysis looking at in terms of scores etc?

A
  • its looking at the ranks not the actual scores!

L> a reason why they are less powerful than parametric tests….

Q

How does this test get done in SPSS?

A
  1. enter data just you would with an ANOVA. (raw data is all put into one column and group variables are assigned to identify the group)
  2. Analysis—> nonparametric–>legacy dialogues—> K-independent sample
  3. DV goes into test list
L> group goes to grouping variable ox
    L> defined: min=1, x=max-3 (groups)
