234 Landing Gear Flashcards
(17 cards)
234 Landing Gear General
4 non-retractable
Nitrogen charged Oleo struts
Brakes on all 4
Forward Landing Gear
Fixed, two wheels each, brake assemblies on each wheel.
Aft Landing Gear
Two Single-wheel assemblies, each with brake assembly.
SWIVEL SWITCH:
UNLOCKED - Wheels caster 360
LOCKED - Centering cams and locking pins are hydraulically engaged
STEER - HDG hold disabled and power steering to aft right wheel
Ground Contact Lights
1 AFCS tied to LH proximity switch. #2 AFCS tied to RH proximity switch.
Slope Landing Consideration
Either proximity switch reduces the corresponding AFCS sensitivity by 50%, sends the corresponding LCT to GND (#1 connected to forward, #2 to aft), disables DASH, disables HOBBs.
Wheel Brakes
Hydraulically assisted with 1390 psi (reduced from 3350)
Pressure Reducer
Located in the forward pylon. Reduces 3350psi utility Hyd pressure down to 1390 for braking system
Parking Brake Valve
Traps about 620psi when right toe brake is applied and handle is pulled
Master Cylinders
Allows 1390psi Hyd fluid to pass through ports to increase braking action and decrease manual effort
Transfer Valves
Combine LH/RH input brake lines
Scenario — Braking without AGB spinning
UTIL HYD switch on overhead panel will open utility isolation valve, releasing pressure stored in accumulator
Power Steering System
When switch is in STEER, utility Hyd pressure is applied to the actuator on aft right strut.
Power Steering Actuator
Mounted on aft right. Has feedback potentiometer.
Steering Control Panel
Sends electrical signals to steering actuator. Receives feedback signals from potentiometer.
Swivel Lock Switch And Heading Hold
In STEER and UNLOCK the HDG hold on the AFCS is disengaged
STEERING FAIL
Steering malfunction or steering de-phase.
Max Run-on Landing Speeds
20 knots aft wheels, unlocked
60 knots aft wheels, locked
20 knots all four wheels, locked
N.A. all four wheels, unlocked
