Q

Explain the general rule, “like dissolves like.”

A

2 non polar compounds will form a solution, as will 2 polar compounds. However, a polar compound and a non polar compound will not form a solution. Ex: oil is a mixture of hydrocarbons, so oil and water do not mix.
