What is Sawm?
A
Fasting during the month of Ramadan. This includes not allowing anything to pass the lips, i.e. not eating or drinking, and you should refrain from thinking ill thoughts.

Why is the month of Ramadan important?
A
The first revelation of the Qur’an to Muhammad occurred in the month of Ramadan.

Why is fasting important?
A
- obligatory as it’s one of the Five Pillars
- helps you to appreciate what you already have
- teaches self control & discipline

What is Laylat al-Qadr & why is it important?
A
‘The Night of Power’ when Muhammad first received the revelations of the Qur’an.
It’s important because:
- Muhammad was chosen as Allah’s final prophet.
- it was Allah’s final guidance to humanity, the perfect version of His words.
