  1. Totalitarian regimes had only one leader who had absolute power
  2. Only one ideology allowed. None others were tolerated
  3. Allowed no opposition and citizens were denied their human rights
  4. Police were used in extreme ways to instill terror into the population
  5. Censorship and propaganda were common tools used to control the population
  6. Citizens were left only freedom of their own thoughts

  • dissatisfied with new democratic form of government (thought it was weak and ineffective)
  • blamed democratic leaders for getting a bad deal for Italy at the PPC
