Bruising around umbilicus and pooling on back- bleeding

Liver and protein

A

Protein is broken down to ammonia, liver breaks ammonia to urea, kidneys excrete urea. If liver is broken, ammonia will build up, causing decreased LOC, acts as a sedative.
Lactulose is used to decrease ammonia in blood.
