Q

WHAT IS A COMET?

A

A comet is a lump of frozen gas, rock and dust that orbits the Sun. A comet has a tail that always points away from the Sun due to the Sun’s radiation pressure

16
Q

WHAT DO SUPERNOVAS PRODUCE?

A

Elements heavier than iron are produced. Stars and planets are formed from these elements

17
Q

HOW WAS OUR SOLAR SYSTEM FORMED?

A

Gravitational forces caused matter to get closer together creating the Sun and the planets. During formation, rocks gathered close to the Sun and formed the rocky planets, whilst gaseous substances gathered together at distances further away and formed the gas planets

18
Q

WHAT IS A HERTZSPRUNG-RUSSEL DIAGRAM?

A

A way of displaying the properties of stars and representing their evolutionary paths

19
Q

WHAT COLOUR IS HIGH TEMPERATURE?

A

Blue

20
Q

WHAT COLOUR IS LOW TEMPERATURE?

A

Red
