Q

Explain why the eco footprint of a developed is so large.

A

A developed city does not only have the millions of people associated with any city but they also have a high consumer expenditure. For example in London hundreds of bin lorries hundreds of tons of rubbish each week. In developed cities cars are also more prevalent as opposed to motorbikes.

7
Q

Give two examples of cities that have developed highly sustainable transport systems.

A

In Masda, UAE driverless pod cars are all electric and transport people across the hugely modernised city. In London the congestion charge has reduced pollution in the centre, especially as vehicles which have a low CO2 output do not have to pay the charge.

Q

Give a named example of a LEDC city and outline some of the problems that it faces.

A

Dharavi is a squatter slum on the outskirts of Mumbai and is one of the largest slums in the world. It is essentially placed on the city’s sewer system and as a result the all wood construction is founded in toxic waste.
