The risk of an aneurysm of the popliteal artery is more common in which gender? What are the risk of complications?
- Higher in males than females
- Complications
- Thrombosis–> high
- Emboli —> high
- Rupture –> low
What is deep vein thrombosis? Where does it most often occur?
A blood clot in a deep vein, most commonly in the leg.
What is this ultrasound showing?
A Deep Vein Thrombosis of the Common Femoral Vein
Why are the arrows here?
Why? To diagnose exostosis
What is it? Exostosis is formation of new bone on the surface of bone.
How does it form? Due to a buildup of excess calcium formation
If someone has a swollen leg after surgery you should look at the deep venous system to rule out a potential clot. What kind of ultra sound would be performed to rule out a blood clot?
Doppler Ultrasound
Is this a normal doppler ultrasound?
Yes
