Q

what is a stem and leaf dispay

A

separates data entries into leading digits (or stems) and trailing digits (or leaves)

  • first column is the stem and second column is the leaves
  • ignores decimal portions of values

Q

what are the steps using frequency distribution

A

Step1: find the highest and lowest value

Step2: Find the range

Step 3: select the number of classes desired

Step4: find the width by dividing the range by the number of classes and rounding up

Step 5: select a starting point (usually the lower value or any convenient number less than the lowest value) add the width to get the lower limits

Step 6: find the upper class limit

Step 7: find the boundaries
