Origin: spinous process of lower thoracic, lumbar, and sacral vertebrae, iliac crest, and lower ribs

Insertion: intertubercular groove and lesser tubercle

Action: extends, adducts, and medially rotates humerus at the shoulder

Innervation: Brachial plexus
