All of the organisms living in an area together with their physical environment
Biotic Factor
Are the living and once living parts of an ecosystem
Abiotic Factors
The nonliving parts of an ecosystem
Organism
Individual living things
Species
Group of organisms closely related
Population
All the members of the same species that live in the same place at the same time
Community
A group of various species that live in the same place and interact with eachother
Habitat
The place an organism lives
Natural Selection
Survival of the fittest, better genes/traits carry on to offspring
Evolution
Change in the genetic traits from generation to generation
Adaptation
Inherited trait that increases the chance of survival
Artificial Selection
Selective breeding of organisms by humans
Resistance
The ability of an organism to tolerate a chemical designed to kill it
Bacteria
Microscopic, single celled organisms that usually have cell walls
Fungus
Organism whose cells have a nucleus, cell walls, no chlorophyll
Absorb food from decaying organisms in the soil
