8
Q

What does Dr Pi say bout Gu Jing Wan - Stabilize the Menses Pill?

A

the difference between Gu Jing Wan and Gu Chong Tang - Gu Jing Wan has colder herbs. The cause of this bleeding is the heat - need to drain the heat (Huang Qin, Huang Bai) and the heavy cloying herbs (gui ban, bai shao, chun pi) are used to stabilize. Xiang Fu invigorates to prevent stagnation. for continuous menstruation, blood is heavy.

33
Q

What does Dr Pi say about Wen Dai Tang - End Discharge Decoction?

A

this formula has more UPLIFTING herbs. Can also be used for bleeding. Fundamental pathology is SP Qi Def. Even thought Huang Qi is most uplifting herb - using Ren Shen instead bc it is more nourishing. Even thought there is SP Qi def, and probably damp as a result - can’t leech out bc there is already damp. Only astringing herb is Jing Jie - using very tiny amount bc too much would further inhibit the SPs ability to lift. Stabilize and Bind herbs BLOCK the qi mechanism - so if there is QI def, need to use S&B very sparingly.
