This lesson went in depth with a discussion of the Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC). It was discovered that FREC is comprised of seven commissioners appointed by the Governor and approved by the State Senate. The composition is as follows:
- Four real estate brokers licensed in Florida, who have held an active license for at least five years before appointment to FREC;
- One real estate broker or sales associate who has held an active license for at least two years before appointment to FREC; and
- Two consumer members who have never been real estate brokers or sales associates.
The FREC disciplines licensees when rules or laws are violated. The FREC can suspend or revoke real estate licenses when the licensee has committed more serious violations. The FREC also approves or denies courses and schools related to the education of licensees and applicants to get a license.
