What are the different types of literature review?

A
  • Integrative – use various frameworks and perspectives – critique and analyse
  • Historical – describe evolution of research/knowledge on topic
  • Theoretical – examine body of theory – establish lack of appropriate theories or reveal that current theories are inadequate
  • Methodological – research approaches, strategies, data collection techniques or analysis procedures used by others
  • Systematic – comprehensive pre-planned strategy for locating, critically appraising, analyzing and synthesizing existing research

• Analysis – systematically break down something into its constituent parts and describe how they relate to each other
• Analysis lays foundation for critique
• Critique – identify strengths and key contributions, as well as deficiencies, omissions, inaccuracies or inconsistencies
