Passive Transport
Molecules move from a higher concentration of molecules to a lower concentration that doesn’t requires additional energy.
Simple Diffusion
Passive transport that doesn’t use a protein.
Facilitated Diffusion
Passive transport across a membrane that uses transport proteins
Osmosis
The transport through a membrane that makes the low concentration and high concentration equal.
Hypertonic
The concentration of the dissolved substances (solute) in the solution surrounding the cell is higher than the concentration of dissolved substances in the cell.
Hypotonic
The concentration of the dissolved substances in the solution surrounding the cell is lower than the concentration of dissolved substances in the cell.
Isotonic
The concentration of the dissolved substances in the solution surrounding the cell is the same (equal to) the concentration of dissolved substances in the cell.
Active Transport
The transport from a lower concentration of molecules to a higher concentration that requires energy.
Ion Pumps
The transport across the membrane that uses outside energy to go to a higher concentration of molecules.

Cotransport
The transport of two or more substances simultaneously in different directions.
Endocytosis
The transport of a substance into a cell using energy
Phagocytosis
The transport that engulfs a substance into a cell and creates a food vacuole.
Pinocytosis
The transport that takes liquid into a cell
Receptor Meditated Endocytosis
The transport of specific molecules into a cell
