Q

4.2 Acceleration.
Unit 4 chapter 3
Acceleration is defined as change in velocity over time.
KA acceleration

Molly Ayres block 1 box1a

A
  • The formula is change in speed over a certain time intravel
  • It’s units are m/s squared
  • negative acceleration is known as deceleration

Q

4.1 Speed and Velocity
Unit 4 chapter3
Speed it defined as distance divided by time. Velocity would include a directional component.
KA velocity

Molly Ayres block 1 box1a

A
  • speed is defined as how fast an object is moving, there are two types of speed average and instantaneous
  • Velocity is a vector quantity because it has both magnitude and direction

4.3 Math of SVA
Unit 4 chapter 3
We use a certain set of equations
Class discussion an ka’s

Molly Ayres block1 box 1a

A
  • speed is distance over time
  • Acceleration is velocity over time
  • in acceleration Velocity is vi - vf = veloctiy
  • in acceleration time is Ti-Tf= time

4.4 Measuring speed Lab.
Unit 4 chapter 3
This lab explores the difference between average speed and instantaneous speed.
Lab and Ka velocity

Molly Ayres block 1 box1a

A
  • Average speed is defined as speed over a certain amount of time
  • instantaneous speed is speed at any given instant
  • to calculate average speed you divide distance by time
  • to get your instantaneous speed you need to measure it in the instant

4.5 Freefall
Unit4 chapter 3
As objects fall, gravity accelerates them. We use g=10m/s/s on Earth.
Ka free fall and Ka Gravity

Molly Ayres block1 box1a

A

free fall has several formulas in these formulas v is velocity t is time his gravity and d is distance rember during free fall objects accelerate at a rate of 10m/s/s

  • acceleration is velocity over time
  • v=a

4.6 Graphs of Motion
Chapter 3 unit4
Show the motion of an object graphically. We have explored distance verses time and acceleration
verses time.

Ka and lab

Molly Ayres block1 box1a

A

Distance vs time
positive Slope means moving away
Negative slope means moving towards
Steeper slope: faster
Horizontzil line [slope=zero): not moving (=zero velocity)
Straight line (any slope]: constant velocity
Curved line: changing velocity
Steeper going to flatter curve: slowing
Flatter going to steeper curve: speeding up
Velocity vs time
ApproAching 0(time axis),from either above OR below, means slowing
Positive auadrant: moving away
Negative fluadrant: movmg towards
Honzontal line (slope=0): constant velocity
Horizontal line (slope=0) on the axis means velocity is zero = not moving.
